Right now, one of the most important things you can do for Gary is become a delegate to Ward 9’s DFL Convention and endorse him as the official DFL candidate. To become a delegate for Gary you have to be 18 years of age or older, live in Ward 9 and be able to attend the convention on Saturday March 14th.

1st Step: Attend Your Caucus

To become a delegate to your Ward 9 Convention on Saturday, March 14th, you first need to attend your caucus on the evening of Tuesday, March 9th.

At your caucus they will ask for people to attend the Ward 9 Convention. Generally, everyone who wants to become a delegate to the Ward 9 Convention will be able to do so just by raising their hand and volunteering. There are a limited number of people who can attend the Ward 9 convention so in some rare instances you may have to provide a reason why you would like to be delegate to the Ward 9 Convention. The easiest and most effective thing to do if it arises is to say a little bit about yourself and your involvement in your community and then talk about why you support Gary and why you would like to be a delegate for him.

If you can’t attend your caucus, but you would still like to be a delegate, please contact Chelsie at cglaubitz@gmail.com. There is a form that you can fill out before the caucus saying you would like to be a delegate but cannot attend your caucus. However, if the spaces fill up, those with forms will be the last to be able to attend the Ward 9 convention, so it is very important to attend your caucus if at all possible.

2nd Step: Attend Your Ward 9 Convention

At your Ward 9 Convention you will have the opportunity to vote for Gary for the DFL endorsement. In order to win the endorsement, Gary will have to get 60 percent of the votes. If no candidate gets 60 percent of the vote, multiple ballots will be cast until someone is able to get 60 percent.

Good To Know

You'll do several things at your precinct caucus besides selecting delegates to the Ward 9 Convention. One is that you can submit resolutions that you would like to see passed and become a part of the DFL party’s platform. If you submit a resolution, it will be discussed and voted on by the other people attending your caucus. If it passes, it will then be forwarded on to the Ward 9 convention to be discussed and voted on there. You will also take care of party business, such as electing precinct chairs.
